Maintenance Projects

The PPRTA budgets 35% of its project funding to maintenance. Maintenance projects include a variety of infrastructure maintenance such as:
  • asphalt paving,
  • milling and overlay,
  • chip seal and slurry seal,
  • bridge repair and maintenance,
  • safety improvements for intersections,
  • concrete work such as replacement curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and pedestrian ramps.
In 2014, maintenance funds for all five member governments were used for nearly 78 lane miles of asphalt overlays, 159 lane miles of chip seal, nearly 18 miles of curb/gutter replacement, more than 7 miles of sidewalk replacement, 456 new pedestrian ramps, 32,457 potholes filled, 9 traffic signals replaced, 10,523 new roadway signs, 489 bridge inspections, and 3,227 sidewalk trip hazards eliminated.
